A Girls Best Friend
Blemish Removal
“One of the few local clinics offering both professional blemish removal and access to dermatologist-led mole screening through Map My Mole.”
Blemish Removal, also known as Advanced Cosmetic Procedures (ACP) or Advanced Electrolysis, is an advanced adaptation of traditional electrolysis — a safe, well-established treatment that has been successfully used for many years. It provides an effective, hygienic and minimally invasive solution for the treatment of a wide range of common skin blemishes.
Whilst electrolysis is most commonly associated with permanent hair removal, its origins date back to the early 1900s, when it was first used to treat conditions such as ingrown hairs, thread veins and other skin imperfections. Advances in technology and treatment techniques now allow practitioners to safely and effectively treat a variety of benign skin lesions with minimal downtime and excellent cosmetic results.
Today, more than 21 different types of blemishes can be treated using Advanced Electrolysis, often avoiding the need for more invasive procedures.
Treatment involves the precise application of a small electrical current to the affected area. Whilst some clients may experience mild discomfort during treatment, the procedure is generally well tolerated. Temporary redness, slight swelling, skin tightness and minor scabbing are all normal parts of the healing process and typically resolve within a few weeks.

SAFETY FIRST
Your safety will always be my priority.
As a certified practitioner with the Map My Mole Clinic programme and trained in MASCED Pro (Melanoma and Skin Cancer Early Detection), I take a proactive approach to skin health and lesion assessment.
Any mole or pigmented lesion that causes concern can be professionally photographed and submitted through the Map My Mole service for review by a consultant dermatologist. This provides additional reassurance and helps ensure any suspicious lesions are appropriately assessed before cosmetic treatment is considered.
Where suitable, blemishes may be treated following assessment and clearance. However, I reserve the right to decline treatment or recommend further medical investigation where necessary.
CONSULTATION
A thorough consultation is required prior to treatment.
During your appointment, we will discuss your concerns, assess the lesion, review your medical history and determine whether treatment is appropriate. A personalised treatment plan will then be created, along with detailed aftercare advice to support optimal healing and results.
BEFORE YOUR TREATMENT
Medical Information
Please inform me of any medical conditions, allergies, medications, heart conditions, circulatory disorders or other health concerns that may affect your suitability for treatment.
Holidays & Sun Exposure
If you have a holiday planned, treatment should ideally be completed at least four weeks before travelling.
The healing process can take between 4–6 weeks, and exposure to UV light, sea water and chlorinated swimming pools may interfere with healing and increase the risk of pigmentation changes.
Pain Management
Most clients tolerate treatment well. However, if you are concerned about discomfort, a topical anaesthetic cream such as Emla may be purchased from your local pharmacy.
Please follow the manufacturer’s instructions and apply approximately one hour before your appointment, covering the area with a plaster or cling film where appropriate to maximise effectiveness.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Many blemishes can be significantly improved or completely removed in a single treatment session. However, larger or deeper lesions may require multiple treatments to achieve the desired result.
Not all blemishes are suitable for cosmetic removal. During your consultation, I will advise whether treatment is appropriate and discuss alternative options where necessary.
In some circumstances, written consent from your GP or assessment by a dermatologist may be required before treatment can proceed.
Please note that cosmetic blemish removal is not intended to diagnose skin cancer or other medical conditions. Any lesion that raises concern will be referred appropriately, or assessed via the Map My Mole service, before cosmetic treatment is considered.
